2023 Nail Trends
New season, new nails! From unique takes on the French mani, to an update on glazed donut nails, spring nail trends for 2023 are heating up faster than the weather. So what looks will your clients be requesting this season? Find out the spring and summer 2023 nail trends below!
The Y2K revival has brought back a ‘00s favorite with a twist: the french manicure. Swap out the classic white tip for a bright, multi-colored mani, or go wild with a metallic design. With brighter days comes brighter colors - try anything from a lively lilac to a pop of hot pink.
This 2023 nail trend is taking a cue from Pantone’s Color of the Year, “Viva Magenta,” this hot hue is perfect for warmer months. It’s the sophisticated sister to a classic pink polish, making for an ultra-pretty pedicure or bright nail art.
Florals for Spring…Groundbreaking
Florals will always be a go-to spring nail trend. But this year, add a little boost to your blooms. Try adding a contrasting rhinestone to the middle of your flower, or “pluck” a petal from your design for a “they love me, they love me not” vibe - a manicure that’s sure to have your clients choosing the former.
A combo of bright shades from China Glaze make for a marvelous mani. We love the China Glaze “Hello Sugar” collection.
Glazed donut nails aren’t going anywhere, but they are getting an upgrade for spring. It’s all about the gloss for a simple, yet stunning look. “Lip Gloss Nails” is slowly rising in the ranks of top nail trends, and for good reason. To get the look, start with a pink base like OPI’s “Bubble Bath,” top with a clear gloss with sparkles or pearly polish and finish with two coats of a glossy topcoat.
Start with 1-2 layers of a nude, natural polish, like OPI’s “Bubble Bath.”
Nail art is a big trend that’s about to get a lot smaller. Nail artists like Betina Goldstein are shrinking their designs for the perfect micro-manicure. Tiny flowers, small squiggles, even shrunken-down versions of your favorite snacks. Be sure to use a great base layer to complement your designs, like IBD JustGel Polish. Small, but mighty manis!
Mini design - big look! IBD JustGel polish gives this look the perfect base.
This trend is all about wellness. Coming out of a cold, harsh season, your clients’ nails need a little extra TLC. This means moisturized nail beds, cleaned up cuticles and finishing with a clean, simple polish. Try China Glaze’s Eco Glaze, a clean formula made from plant-based ingredients like cotton, corn, molasses and sugar cane that’s sustainable and renewable with a sheer, yet stunning finish.

Jewelry for your nails? Count us in! We’re seeing new ways to accessorize nails with details like chains, pearls, 3D molds and charms. Place on top of a simple shade to let the accessories shine (we love the IBD Advanced Wear Lacquer Nude Collection), or up the drama with a coat of something colorful (try China Glaze “Too Yacht to Handle”.)
China Glaze’s pigmented polishes add to the fun of accessorized looks!
Makeup Sponge Hack
This season, our feeds are already full of nail artists using beauty sponges to create unique nail art (think tie-dye, ombré and, of course, French tips). They’re especially perfect for micro French manis. So when you stock up on spring colors…add a sponge to your cart too!
This fun summer micro French mani was created using a Diane Blending Sponge and China Glaze’s Hello, Sugar! collection.
