From Salon to Social: Posing Tips for Picture-Perfect Hair
Great styling deserves great photos, and the right pose can make all the difference! Whether you are showcasing a fresh color, a detailed updo or flawless curls, positioning your client correctly helps highlight movement, dimension and shine. Below, stylist and educator Caidy Brasure shares some of her go-to poses that make every shot look polished and elevated!
FRONT POSES
To capture a strong front-facing photo, have your client lean slightly forward. This posture softens the shoulders and creates a flattering frame for the face and hairstyle.
Another option is to have them cross their arms behind their back while leaning forward, which adds structure and keeps the focus on the hair.
For a side-front angle, ask your client to cross one arm across the front and tuck it gently into their stomach. This adds shape to the body and creates a natural curve that keeps the focus on the hair.
BACK POSES
When capturing back photos, posture is key. Avoid having the client lean back, as this can emphasize the neck instead of the style. Instead, cover most of the shoulders with hair while leaving a small amount of skin exposed. Pulling some hair toward the chest balances the composition and adds softness.
For a side-back angle, drape hair over one eye while leaving a hint of the nose visible. This pose creates a flattering, natural look while showcasing the style’s layers, volume and detail.
