How-To: Style a Grown Out Pixiefeaturing Rusk
Featuring Rusk Educator David Chizek
For your clients, styling a grown out pixie can be tricky, so it’s extra important to give them the right tools and education they need to recreate the gorgeous look you give them in the salon at home! Here’s an easy short hair blowout tutorial from Rusk Educator David Chizek, plus some tips you can share with your clients for short hair styling success.
Grown Out Pixie Styling Steps
Step 1: Apply a mousse texturizer like Rusk Designer Collection Thickr Thickening Mousse to towel-dried hair. Comb through for even distribution.
Step 2: Using the Rusk Speed Titanium Professional Dryer with the concentrator nozzle and a paddle brush, blow dry, directing the hair forward.
Step 3: When you reach the crown, blow dry left and right. Pay close attention to the crown section - you don’t want the hair in the crown to pop up and stick straight up!
Step 4: Apply Rusk Designer Collection W8less Plus Extra Strong Hold Shaping & Control Hairspray, using your fingers to shape and detail the fringe.
Step 5: Send your client home with the proper products to recreate the look on their own - this includes texturizer, mousse and styling cream. Instruct them to dry the sides and back forward, the top and crown left and right and then finish in their desired direction.
