Meet Ellie and Sass! The Venice Beach, California salon is the brainchild of Elizabeth Hendrickson and Sarah Sluder. After living in Venice for a little over a decade, they noticed their community was lacking an upscale beauty space. Together they created Ellie and Sass - their nicknames for each other!
 

Marlo Beauty: What do you think makes Ellie and Sass unique?
Ellie and Sass: One of the main reasons we created Ellie and Sass was because we found it difficult to find a salon on the west side of Los Angeles that provided the beauty services we wanted at our fingertips. We found ourselves saying to each other “Why are we driving all around town to get all of our beauty needs accomplished?” We wanted to help women and men make their self care easy, accessible and effortless.  

We also have a beautiful garden that was originally for relaxing after your services, but now it's an outdoor salon sanctuary. It saved our business during COVID. We are able to provide almost all of our services outside, including waxing and facials in our outdoor "treatment room” for waxing and facials. Clients LOVE being outside not only for safety reasons but because they find it so relaxing and peaceful.   
 

Marlo Beauty: Your salon is gorgeous! How did you bring your vision for the space to life?
Ellie and Sass: Thank you! You know, funny enough, I think we just started with one chair that we liked for the pedicures and then the rest fell into place. We knew we wanted something clean and airy but also homey when you walked in the door. Sarah’s husband built out the interior and did custom lash beds and shelving. Our close friends and family helped us paint and build our fence around the garden. The salon was created with so much love and support from our Venice family.

Marlo Beauty: What’s your favorite part about being in the beauty industry?  
Ellie and Sass: Honestly, it's so fun! We love making our clients feel and look like they have been pampered from head to toe. We have met some incredible people along the way and are so very thankful for their continued support.
